Deception or Discernment – are YOU on guard?
“Don’t judge a book by its cover”
“Things aren’t always what they seem”
“Don’t take it at face value”
All of these adages are telling us to “vet” or check out situations, organizations and people before we either participate in/with them or throw our personal support behind them. Unfortunately, many of us don’t take the time to do that, instead relying on the trustworthiness of the people or venues who informed us – perhaps presuming that they took the time to analyze what we didn’t. These are bad (and maybe slothful) presumptions on our part.
It’s similar to those chain emails received from friends and family notifying us of a political “scandal”, or some type of impending doom, or “petitions” on which to attach our names for protesting fictional occurrences. If we’d do our homework on these, we’d find that 99% of them aren’t true – but instead, we blindly pass them along to other unsuspecting souls. While we could’ve taken the time to stop the nonsense, instead we perpetuate it. Instead of bringing truth and sanity, we ignorantly spread lies and misinformation –as well as waste people’s time. Instead of being the solution, we’re part of the problem. This should be an imperative lesson and warning to all, no matter which side of the political boat you row on – check it out first!
It was while I was applying Discernment to debunk one of these emails that my friend and ally, Dec1773, (knowing that Israel is close to my heart), notified me of an upcoming “Dinner and Dialogue” event in SCV discussing “the proposed Israeli-Palestinian Conference”. Upon reading the announcement, a “Tzeva Adom” (Hebrew for the ‘Color Red’ Israeli warning system for incoming rockets) goes off in my head, triggered by the name of the keynote speaker, Estee Chandler and her “Jewish Youth for Peace” group. When it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, any group with the name “Peace” in it should be an early warning sign to a Zionist Jew or Christian (example: one of the most leftists groups in Israel is named "Peace Now"). Interestingly, an internet search of JYP did not yield any results - however a search of Estee Chandler hit the jackpot, identifying her as a leader/organizer of “Jewish VOICE for Peace”, which leaves me wondering if the substitution of “Youth” for Voice” in this press release was a typo or deliberate. My reasoning? Dec1773’s article comment (which I verified) that in October 2010, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) identified JVP as one of the top 10 anti-Israel groups in the United States. And we couldn’t have such a speaker right here in the SCV now, could we?!
It never ceases to amaze me of the Left’s adeptness of using deception and mirages to champion their causes. But then again – I don’t have that misguided mindset. Isaiah 5:20 speaks well to them.
Oh – and by the way – Newt is correct in his history telling of the “Palestinian” people….just because the truth is abhorred and shunned by those who would deny it doesn’t change it from BEING the truth….

If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be nomore Israel”
