Duck Truth Resonates With Millions
I shared this meme on Facebook and in just 48 hours, more than 32 million people have seen it, 205,000 have shared it, and 14,000 have taken time to comment.
According to a Christian Post article, the “support Phil Robertson” memes have been coming fast and furious.
Why have these images resonated so well?
Because the American public as a whole is sick to death of two things:
1. Having traditional values quashed by the heavy hand of political correctness, and
2. Being unable to express simple opinions or support for our values without being called a homophobic, racist, sexist, Bible-thumping low-down rascally scoundrel.
And of course, the issue of homosexuality is probably the toughest one for us to win in today’s climate, while simultaneously being the one that brings out the most vitriol from the left.
When faced with that issue, we typically respond by cowering down, trying to explain why we actually are not homophobic low-down rascally scoundrels, although we do thump our Bibles on occasion, but not in a mean way, you see…. All this time the reporter is salivating.
Americans are absolutely fed up with this, but feel that as long as the left controls the narrative there’s nothing we can do.
Enter Phil Robertson. Leave it to a redneck from Louisiana to have the guts to tell it like it is!
Phil didn’t pander. Equally important, he didn’t rant or rave. He just boldly spoke the truth in love without giving way an inch on his principles. In today’s climate, you’d think that’s shooting yourself in the foot, and he did get the standard liberal treatment from the media and A&E.
But the real story is how the public responded. The huge outpouring of public support for him proves that most Americans still support traditional values and are thrilled when someone finally articulates them without apology. The Cracker Barrel incident is just one example of this.
The lesson for conservatives here is that we don’t have to be afraid to speak the truth!
As Proverbs 28:1 says, “The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
The left controls the narrative largely through bully tactics, not ideas. It’s the American people who control government and society. Phil has proved to us all that it’s a lot easier to win the argument than the left wants us to think.
Margaret Thatcher once said “First you win the argument, then you win the vote.”
Trevin Wax recently posted an article that articulates extremely well the Christian perspective on the homosexual discussion. And Pastor Rick Warren’s articulation of the quote I included in the meme sums up the entire debate.
When conservative values are articulated well, they can win the day! Thank you, Phil Robertson!
P.S. Would you like to see more issues of the day won through clear, concise, reasonable articulation? If so, then please support Patriot Academy.
