The Seduction of the SCV Patriots

The Seduction of the SCV Patriots

Posted October 12th, 2011 by Steve Petzold in SCV Politics

A huge majority of my fellow Patriots agreed to move this months meeting to the home of this city councilman-ostensibly a fund raiser for a candidate who is facing negligible (if any) opposition.Yet yesterdays endorsement of Mitt Romney by Chris Christie got me to wondering whether something more nefarious may be in play.

Let me just urge my fellow SCV Patriots to remain strong in the face of any appeals to get behind Mitt Romney this early in the nomination process.  The Tea Party candidates, those who deserve serious consideration by members of SCV Patriots are Herman Cain (my favorite), Rick Perry, and  Michelle Bachman.  Some might tell you that a Tea Party candidate cannot win-that Romney is the inevitable candidate, all while you are enjoying a nice evening out in Sand Canyon.

No primary votes have been cast and in IMHO our candidate must be dedicated to a return to a smaller, constitutional  government-not to a candidate who is comfortable with  control of  a large centralized bureaucracy in DC.

SCV Patriots-I appeal to you to be strong and centered upon the shared  values of our SCV Patriot organization.  Petz will be resistant to any temptation by remaining at home.

"You intended it for evil, but God intended it for good". Those words from Joseph talking to his brothers who gave him up as a slave ring in my ears this morning. The question a Conservative should ask is which candidate will maintain his cool and decorum as the civil society unravels, who will attempt meaningingful reform rather than manage a bloated federal government? It is clear that while Herman is challenged at this point-he maintains his grace, bearing and dignity under pressure. Romney, can't handle a few questions from Bret Beir without losing his cool and getting feisty. Cain will take some time off the campaign to reassess his campaign and strategy-Romney will not apologize for infringing personal liberty in Massachusets with Romneycare. Quite frankly, Petz does not care if Herman Cain had an affair with Ginger Winters--at least he was not in bed with Barney Frank in Massachusetts.

Looks like the Cain Train may be headed for the roundhouse.
  • Petz
Character assassination is a terrible thing to watch from afar, especially when it is someone like Herman Cain who I had come to believe in as a national leader. Petz himself has been accused of harrassment for saying "Have a good weekend sweetheart" to a temporary receptionist as he got on an elevator. For this indiscretion he was threatened with taking a class and having mt personnel file notated for the incident. Herman has had to deal with largely unsubstantiated accusations by women who at the very least seem to lack complete credibility. Nonetheless, it is just sad to see a good man like Herman have to deal with this when the United States civil society is really on the brink. So the price is paid not just by Herman Cain but by society itself-as good men who may have had an indiscretion decline to run for office-and young women who look for advice and mentoring are "declined" by men in a position to help who do not want there to be an appearance of impropriety. As I finish, let me throw out the observation that at the last Republican Women meeting someone at the lectern made the statement (paraphrased) that it was going to be left up to the women to save America. Who sad in these desperate times-when men should stand up and lead that they are attacked by bimbos in skirts. Ladies, a lot of good men will sit on the sidelines after the Cain episode.
  • Petz
Maybe it was Petz who was seduced, but nonetheless he is riding the Cain train till it comes off the tracks. Next up N E W T
  • Mr Perez
So it appears that Perry and Bachmann both fizzled themselves to a halt, while Herm "The Magic Worm" Cain fizzled something else. So looks like Romney is the candidate after all Steve-O :)
  • Cash
Wow, Petz, You naive or just ignorant?
  • Petz
Herman Cain is under attack with the revelation by Politico( which is sketchy on detail) that he was charged with sexual harassment. As Conservatives, we must face the fact that one of our best potentia GOPl nominees needs our support NOW. Please join me in support for Herman Cain by making a nominal contribution of $19.99 to his campaign today. He needs to hear from us in the hinterland for moral, spiritual, and finaancial support. Petz approved this message and is fully responsible for it's content.
  • Petz
I believe Herman Cain is the next Reagan because he is likeable and is not a career politician. Herman is not conventional as you can see from this ad. View it to the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhm-22Q0PuM
  • Alice Khosravy
Thank you Steve. These things happen from time to time and your willingness to investigate and correct it is a testament to your integrity. All that aside, I do understand your frustration with the GOP Presidential race. Never fear though the SCV Patriots are a rowdy group with their own opinions and they are not likely to be co-opted by the GOP establishment anytime soon. You haven't been removed from the email list. :-) We all hope to see you at the next meeting. :-)
  • Petz
Reading through the thread it is clear that Petz jumped the shark in an effort to protect his favorite candidate Herman Cain from media reports making Romney the presumptive nominee. The opinions of Petz are his own, sometimes flawed and occasionally incoherent. Petz does not speak for SCV Patriots in any official capacity at all, and in all probability will be removed from their contact list. Maybe Berta will put in a good word for me.
  • Petz
Steve Petzold aka Petz humbly apologizes to his fellow Patriots (especially Alice) for mischaracterizing the Patriots canceling their meeting for a GOP Fundraiser. This mistake was inadvetent, factually incorrect, and without nefarious intent. SCV polled the Patriots to see whether "members" would CANCELtheir regular meeting to free up members to attend a support meeting to reelect Councilman Kellar. SCV Patriots did not move their meeting to Robinson Ranch. The meeting at Robinson Ranch was separate and distinct from a Sunday GOP gathering at the lovely home of councilman Kellar. If further clarification is needed please let me know. SCV Patriots includes GOPers-Independents_and Democrats-they remain separate and distinct, outside the contol or influence of any polictical party. Mea Culpa Mea Culpa
  • Alice Khosravy
Steve, You owe the SCV Patriots an apology. We have NEVER moved a meeting to a city councilman's home or a fundraiser. The SCV Patriots meeting for October was CANCELLED by a group vote because so many people were going to be absent due to Councilman Kellar's event at Robinson Ranch. There was an event at Councilman Kellar's home but it was a meeting for the Santa Clarita Republican Assembly - NOT the SCV Patriots. Please check the facts. They are easily verified!

It appears that Governors Perry & Moonbeam have commonality regarding benefits for illegal immigrants. Their policies and Obama's socialist policies are escalating America's demise...
  • Petz
Rick Perry is now on my unacceptable list with Huntman and Paul for his question to Mitt Romney regarding the illegal gardener. Perry is Petty and that is not presidential quality
  • Petz
Comments on FB seem to indicate that Joe Messina has been seduced---despite my warning. Who is your Conservative candidate Joe?
  • Bill Reynolds
Speaking of seduction, check this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DrSEyjBj1w
  • Berta
JP there were several military veterans present, Bill amongst them. In addition, many more of us civilians who have nothing but admiration and respect for those who serve our country as you do. I do not drink either, gives me a headache, nor do I generally donate funds. I do donate volunteer time and my vote if I am so inclined. You would have been most welcome and amongst friends just so you know for the next opportunity.
  • Mr Perez
Sometimes I am the party of HELL NO! lol
  • Bill Reynolds
Translation: Perez = Party of NO!
  • Mr Perez
Translated: I don't drink and I don't donate money to politicians. I also don't cheer for the Cowboys, what's the spread against them this weekend? lol
  • Bill Reynolds
    Whot Tha!?
  • Mr Perez
So that would equal into a resounding ZERO on both lol
  • Bill Reynolds
Depends on your adult beverage consumption (no host bar) and the amount contributed to Kellar's election campaign.
  • Mr Perez
So what was the price if I might ask?
  • Bill Reynolds
Mr. Perez, no one said it was free...
  • Mr Perez
Bill, I know we are paying a price but I just find it hard to accept some things for free when I know that everyone is struggling as well.
  • Bill Reynolds
SFC Perez, I don't think anyone said it was free and besides, most patriotic citizens appreciate that men in uniform are already paying a price.
  • Mr Perez
Petz, you better not use that excuse when we meet for lunch next week! Bill, I hate using the uniform/job to get anything for free but glad you had a good time.
  • Petz
My wife wouldn't let me out the door-so Petz could not try to get through the gate.
  • Petz
My wife wouldn't let me out the door-so Petz could not try to get through the gate.
  • Bill Reynolds
The Bob Kellar event was purely excellent and very well attended, sorry that Petz and Perez were no shows. SFC Perez, your uniform will get you in anywhere that you want and you would have been defintely welcomed at Robinson Ranch this evening.
  • Mr Perez
Well if Petz talks in 3rd party they might not let him in lol. I am just razzin' you by the way, not like I could get in the door either.
  • Berta
JP my race is Caucasian. As an American of Hispanic ancestry, many folks call us “brown” anyway. Currently I happen to have a decent tan from swimming at the outdoor pool at the gym, but I was really making a snarky comment to Petz since he said in a previous post that he did not think they would let someone like him through the locked gates to enter the Robinson Ranch Private Golf Course.
  • Mr Perez
Exactly Bill. Berta, not that it matters but I thought you were white?
  • Bill Reynolds
    See you there Petz and Berta... uhhh, Berta is brown? Whot Tha!? Great post, Sue Hartman! Gary Whathisname is toast, so is Huntsman and Ron Paul. Just my opinion folks. :o}
  • Berta
Petz Robinson Ranch is accessed via Sand Canyon. You are in Saugus so you can take Whites Canyon over the hill to left on Soledad to right on Sand Canyon or Bouquet to left on Soledad to right on Sand Canyon. Continue on Sand Canyon until you see the entrance on the left hand side of the road to Robinson Ranch and continue until you see the clubhouse. They let brown people like me in, so you should have no problem...
  • Petz
Now the opponents of Herman Cain are whispering that he stole 9-9-9 from Sim City. If it works there, it may work here. Anyone know how to get to Robinson Ranch?
  • jean
I resent people telling me what criteria to use when selecting my candidate. If I want to consider his liberal leanings and his cult religion (in my opinion) I will.
  • Sue
Bill- it's called the "Gary Johnson Rule". Here were the qualifiers for the last debate: 1. Received measurable popular support in a range of national polls (check) 2. Is a legally qualified candidate for the Republican nomination for president (check) 3. Campaign reported at least half a million dollars raised in its FEC filing through the 2011 second quarter reporting period (bought and paid for whores only) 4. Participated in at least three nationally televised Republican presidential debates during the 2012 election cycle (there! that will keep Johnson out!) This crap needs to change.
  • Sue Hartman
Didn't we learn our lesson with McCain? I never liked McCain but when I voted in the primary, I pulled the lever for him because I caved on the belief that moderates would like him and the GOP would win. I never thought Obama had a chance with his shady past and zero experience unless you count voting for no aid and comfort for babies born alive and suffering horribly till death. We do not have to accept a wimpy candidate as our only hope against an incompetent, cold hearted, Union controlled thug of a non leader. It's the Democrat party that has gone extreme away from the constitution, the anti-dote is a candidate that will get us as close to the constitution as possible.
  • Bill Reynolds
What happened to Gary Whathisname in that last debate? No more cool Rush lines?
  • Petz
It is our duty to keep the music playing to help make the nominee better. Steel is sharpened by steel. From today's WSJ. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204002304576626851425960120.html?mod=djemEditorialPage_h

The establishment folk have joined with mainstream media ti describe Chris Christive as a Conservative Republican who endorsed Mitt Romney. Christie is not conservative and NJ has not joined in the state suit to stop Obamacare. Romney is pulling out all the plugs to have early primaries and grab the nomination early. The Tea Party candidates need our support now to keep the process going. FYI-the event tonight is at Robinson Ranch Country Club....do not show up at the councilman's house. Be cautious of anyone who valet parks. Berta....you know Petz....he's just jealous he was not nominated to the library committee.
  • Sue
    * Johnson is socially more liberal than the others- but he has a proven record of being fiscally conservative and small government. Exactly who we need and who could win. * Maybe the whole 'not a career politician' is refreshing for governor- but President of the United States? Never having held office? yikes! (and it didn't work out so well with the Governor, come to think of it). * I think we'll be stuck with Romney- and for me all I can say is it could be worse. * I'm sorry for all of the Christie fans who wanted him to run- only to have him endorse Romney. Must feel like a slug in the gut.
  • Berta
Petz I am surprised you know so little about me. I supported the creation of a municipal library system because it gives us more control, ownership of the facilities and materials, and more bang for our buck (no pun intended) for programs, etc. In other words, I did my homework and understood the issues, formulated an opinion, expressed and defended that opinion, and I was right too. That it is pretty much how I approach most issues. As to Romney, I am not a fan. He is too wishy-washy and changes sides too often. As of now, I like Cain because he has good ideas, is a successful businessperson and is not a career politician. Santorum because he has a proven good record of accomplishment as a public servant. Bachman for her track record on illegal immigration but am losing hope for her because of her frequent gaffes. Gingrich is smart but too arrogant, Huntsman too plastic, Paul too naive on Iran and others, Johnson too liberal, Perry too weak on immigration. Did I miss anybody? Oh yes, Barack Obama. I did not vote for him when I was a lifelong registered Democrat and will not now that I am a Decline to State since he has been an utter failure as a leader of the greatest nation in the free world. Allowing Félipe Calderón to lecture him was the final straw for me. Not to mention back door amnesty, etc. I will be at Robinson Ranch. Oh, and missing an SCV Tea Party meeting does not make me or anyone else any less of a patriot either.
  • Petz
Well it's clearly not Patriot Faith that my efforts were addressed to, although it's hard to understand why they wish to remain anonymous. We really don't differ, the blog is a warning to my good friends to be on guard, to remain faithful and not compromise with the Romney supporters. It is a concern that this will be a time for Patricia McKeon to appear and introduce herself. Not really a boycott, but a "lead me not into temptation" thing.
  • Patriot Faith
Trust me - the real "Patriots" do not aspire to be in the "in" crowd - that's why they ARE "Patriots" and not just because they belong to a group that calls themselves that. And sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone and meet the enemy head on. We’re not cowering and we won’t be intimidated because some people who think they have “power” may show up…. We’re in this to win it, not to be marginalized or “scared” into staying away. I know you’re up for the battle, so I hope you reconsider the “boycott”. We don’t want “them” to win by default, now do we?!
  • Petz
The SCV Patriots will be surrendering homefield advantage in Stevenson Ranch to meet with the Gopers at Robinson Ranch Golf club. Petz will never get into Robinson Ranch, that is why they have the gate. Ron Paul folks cannot be persuaded and we do not worry about them-it's those who aspire to be part of the "in crowd" who need encouragement.
  • Bill Reynolds
Ouch! Petz was just taken to the woodshed!
  • Bill Reynolds
Mr. Perez, obviously you did not listen to Newt or Michelle's statements last night. Study up, Sergeant! Petz, you are 100% correct. Liberals and the Republican establishment are trying to lock in our candidate prematurely.
  • Patriot Faith
Sorry, Petz, but I don’t get the connection about how going to Bob Kellar’s house means a Romney endorsement. I’ll be at Kellar’s house for the SCVRA meeting this Sunday – not the SCV Patriots meeting. The Kellar fundraiser is at Robinson Ranch Golf Club. Are you confused? Regardless, I’m not a Romney fan (preferring Cain as many others do) and I think you do the individual members of the SCV Patriots a great disservice in thinking that they are that persuadable – there are Ron Paul advocates in that group, too. And we conservatives are the ones who’ve been FIGHTING the local Republican establishment, so that’s a double disservice you’ve presented….
  • Petz2
Today's most is meant to fortify those SCV Patriots who may become weak kneed over in Sand Canyon as sweet musings are whispered into their ears. Tea Partiers must be principled and not yield to the winds of the candidate de jour. Romney and the establishment GOPers are trying to clear the table before a vote is cast.
  • Mr Perez
That is part of the problem Bill. The other lies with bankers giving loans to people who couldn't afford those specific amounts and weren't legally educated enough to understand what an ARM is. Realtors, not you Petz, were big about this as well since it increased their commission and they weren't in it for the long haul. Yes, individuals need to accept responsibility for poor decisions but when all these agencies assisted in the bad decision making it ended up affecting all of us who did try to live within our means.
  • Bill Reynolds
Re: housing/financial meltdown... Michelle Bachman nailed it perfectly last night - Newt doubled down on her assessment that Frank/Dodd/liberal ideology caused the problem. Those lonney left wing Bloomberg moderators were aghast hearing the truth.
  • Mr Perez
Ok Petz, good comeback but what if I had made that comment towards Cain? Would you be as accepting and civil? Bill, I think he put his foot in his mouth for wanting someone like Greenspan's. But I do want to know this, Newt blamed the banks for some of our current situation as do the OWS protesters. How can someone on the Right get away with this assessment and not the Left? Is it because of their methods and other unreasonable demands? Or do you also agree the banks helped cause alot of these problems?
  • Petz
Well Michelle changed out of her "red" dress for this debate so she must have had the "devil" prepared . Herman has urged us America to have a sense of humor and he was amused. The line was pretty good and her analysis was legitimate but not convincing. We are worried about Berta going soft for Romney as she is charmed by the establishment GOPers who put her on the city's library committee. They got to Gitlin-so you know they are persuasive.
  • Bill Reynolds
Mr. Perez, I too like Herman Cain but I was more irritated with his suggestion of hiring a "Greenspan" like Fed Chairman. I was also irritated that two issues pretty much ignored last night were Obama's Solyndra campaign money laundry scam & his murderous "Fast & Furious" program.
  • Bill Reynolds
Hmmm...... yeah well..... the shadowy so-called "savvy" Republican establishment "think" they know Romney is their only chance at the White House. And those same "savvy" Republicans also chose McCain, Whitman, etc...... out.
  • Mr Perez
Is the Emperor from Star Wars theme music going to start playing soon? On a serious note though, I am upset that Michelle Bachmann had the audacity to take Herman Cain's 9-9-9 plan and flip the numbers upside down and insinuate Satanism on his part. I may not be a total fan of Mr Cain but I think he is an honest, forthcoming man who is a believing Christian and shouldn't have been insulted in this manner. Anyone else here upset about that?
  • Nate
The shadowy forces you speak of... are the savvy Republican establishment who know Romney is their only chance at the white house.
